Job Description

Performs professional work of considerable difficulty in various phases of research studies being performed, with particular responsibility for providing speech, language, or behavior evaluation, intervention, and data management for children with or at risk for communication disorders.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Performs or assists in the recruitment and scheduling of research subjects.

• Provides evaluations of communication and developmental abilities of young children.

• Assists and participates in the design and implementation of selected clinical research protocols, including protocols involving provision of family-centered early intervention services.

• Enters data comprising test conditions and results.

• Oversees the work of other research assistants or students as assigned by the Research Project Director.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of a variety of approaches to assessment and intervention with young children with communication disorders.

• Ability to establish and maintain an environment that encourages teamwork, interdependence, communication, and ethical actions.

• Ability to communicate concisely, both orally and in writing.

• Ability and willingness to learn to operate research and clinical equipment, software, and other specialized devices necessary for the conduct of research.

• Ability to function independently as a professional with general supervision.

• Ability to remain flexible in duties performed.

• Ability to operate a personal computer and use Microsoft Office Software, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

• Knowledge of speech and language development assessment and intervention techniques for young children with communication disorders.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience providing intervention services to patients with communication disorders required.

• Ability to provide own transportation (mileage reimbursed) to complete travel requirements of the job required.

• Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification within 30 days of transfer or hire required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree preferred.

• Certification as an early childhood educator, special educator, teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing, speech-language pathologist, registered behavior technician, board certified behavior analyst, or related certification preferred.
